Our Journey

Apr 22, 2018
Houston Yellow River Chorus / Zilkha Hall

Founded in 1996 by Alex Qian, the Houston Yellow River Chorus (YRC) is an amateur group of about 50 singing enthusiasts from all walks of life in Houston, Texas. Since our debut concert of “Great Sea, My Sweet Home,” we have successfully brought many concerts to the Houston stage, including both traditional Chinese music as well as modern Western music. Additionally, we have participated in numerous community and charity events, such as the Chinese National Day Celebration, the Houston International Festival, and other fund-raising performances for disaster stricken areas.

Thriving to contribute to the Sino-US cultural exchange, the YRC continues to bring traditional Chinese folk songs to our fellow American audiences, while fulfilling our mission to build a bridge between Chinese and American cultures. Under our current director Lily Tsang, the YRC has blossomed to become one of the most recognized choruses among the Chinese community in the greater Houston area.
